Originally this relief decorated the Heroon, a burial site of an unknown Lycian local ruler. Several militant scenes are shown on 156 panels. On the west wall of the relief „a siege of a bastioned city“ is displayed. The main characters in this scene are the enthroned ruler, the servant with a sunshade as well as the praying commander, who do not participate in the war. In addition, a sacrifice of a ram is shown, which is carried out by a kneeling servant.
The other panel shows fleeing citizens, who try to save their belongings. Further military scenes reflect a large range of ancient weapons and suits of armour, for example, Egyptian sickle swords, Hittite head coverings and Greek armaments for hoplites.
